Episode 3 sucked

Hey all

So as I was grocery shopping today I had come across Star Wars Episode 3. Now I had never seen the movie before today thinking that it would be just as bad as the first two that were released. Today I was feeling a little more spontaneous and in dire need of entertainment so I bought a copy. Needless to say, after watching it, I have never been more disappointed in George Lucas and his Star Wars Franchise. I used to be a huge Star Wars fan back in the day before the release of Episode 1 but episode 3 managed to bring back that same disappointment once again. Aside from the horrible extention of the love story that felt dead and lacked any emotion, the fight sequences were drawn out and made boring. In fact, the fight sequences were so drawn out that I fell asleep half way through the movie. I don't know how anyone could claim that the lightsaber battles were great in this movie. Out of all the disappointing sequences I will admit that R2D2 and Yoda were in their prime in this movie. R2 managed to show his quality by granting us a final view of his fight tactics which impressed me. Yoda on the other hand used his prowess to fight his way into my cool list. I used to hate Yoda and his defective speaking, but after watching this, he appears to be one of the cooler characters in the series of movies. I am just wondering though, Yoda, a jedi master, never managed to defeat count Dooku, but a pathetic, whiny padawan named Anakin did. Where is the sense in that? Normally the more powerful masters defeat the enemy. I think George Lucas was drunk when he wrote these first three scripts. Aside from that, in the end Obi-wan needed to be taught how to be given sight to speak with his dead mentor as where Luke never was taught that ability immediately after the death of obi-wan in episode 4. Can George Lucas explain that? From my understanding, Jedi must learn their gifts and nothing comes naturally. So, why does Luke develop powers naturally as where every other Jedi must learn them? I always thought George Lucas was an idiot and his third movie in the Star Wars series proves it. He not only ruined a great set of movies by expanding on it, he also ruined an admirable, classic villian and made him into some sort of rapist. Darth Vader used to be an awesome character in episodes 4-6, now after seeing this love story in episodes 1-3 I am starting to believe that Anakin used his jedi mind powers to rape and impregnate the princess. I did find it funny that an advanced society could not save amidala. A robot comes in and tells the jedi that amidala was dying and they did not know why. That makes absolutely no sense. Was Anakin and amidala soul mates? Did Anakins fall managed to kill his lover? All I can say is that if George Lucas is going to write another set of movies, he needs to start spending more time thinking about what is happening and explaining certain events. Episode 3 was the biggest disappointment ever to happen in the movie business.

You know, I liked Episode 3, but only because it had Hayden. You're completely right, there were a lot of plot holes in the film - it was kind of disappointing. You can tell that Georgie was only looking for big bucks.

Kind of sad, really.

come on

You people have to realize that lucas didnt make this movie because he wanted money, he made it because he had money. Before he even started episode 4 he said that one day he was going to make movies the way he wanted even if everyone else thought it was crap. After the Lucas empire made him his millions he can finally make a movie the way he wants. Sure 1,2 and 3 were crap but he made them the way he wanted to. Good fo you Mr.Lucas keep reaching for that rainbow. The rest of you can stop your shit about how he was doing it for the money. fuck the rest of you!

Re: come on

Its great that he made the movies the way he wanted, but the movies were for all to enjoy and not himself. If he wanted to make movies to entertain himself and be made to his specifications, then he should not have released the first three star wars into theatres. In the end, he ruined what was once a great set trilogy

Re: come on

yeah but its his story and his movie. He can do what he wants. Maybe if it wasnt his story you could say he ruined it. But how can the creator be responsible to destroying his own story?

Re: come on

You do have a point. I believe he can do what he likes with his own creations, but there are elements in the story that he could have worked on in order to enhance their emotional qualities. George Lucas did note that these first three star wars movies were supposed to be emotional but they do not feel emotional. The love story, Anakins fall to the dark side, Obi-wans friendship with Anakin, they all feel bland and cold. Its in scene's like this that George Lucas should have brought in a third party to assist him in enhancing the emotions in these kind of scenes. After seeing these titles I can now believe that George Lucas is a cold hearted millionaire with no ability to direct

Re: come on

Ok, if we're going to get right down to the basics of it, it IS about money. That's what it's always about. You can't tell me that he made the new trilogy for the "artistic" quality of it, or because he wanted ONLY to create something for himself. Perhaps this is PART of it, but it's also about MONEY MONEY MONEY. That's what Hollywood is.

I'm a Lucas fan, but I'm not gonna start defending Episode 3 because he was "reaching for a rainbow." I think the plot sucked.

Re: come on

Well, I agree with that. However, any movie ever produced was strictly about money. No one in the movie business does anything for free. So there is no way to argue this topic based on that perspective. You're just taking the fun out of this argument, lol. It is the truth though, George Lucas only thought with producing the first three movies is mainly about money and making as much of it as possible. But he was also trying to create entertainment that would appeal to the fans. So as a result, he could have sacrificed a few thousand dollars in order to enhance his script and production quality. Maybe then they would not have sucked so bad
